Cary Frounfelter on How to be a Good Prosthetist


Being a prosthetist is not an easy job. Before you ever get into this career, you need to think it through. Will it be the right choice for you? Do you have the personality and qualities that make up a prosthetist? 


Cary Frounfelter, a well-known prosthetist, had also gone through analysing himself if this career is the one for him. To be a prosthetist one should have:

* Effort or Achievement. Any job requires a person to establish and maintain achieving goals that are challenging and exert effort in order for him to master tasks. 


* Leadership. Leadership skills is not just for those with high positions in an organization. For prosthetists, this is also essential as their job require them to be willing to take charge with their patients’ health. They need to lead and offer direction and give their opinions. 

* Concern for the patients. Being sensitive to what the patients’ feelings and needs is something that a prosthetist like Cary Frounfelter master. In their job, thy need to be helpful and understanding towards their patients. 

* Self-control. This job need a person who can maintain their composure even in times of a difficult situation. They need to keep their emotions in check and they should know how to avoid behaving aggressively. It is not surprising to have difficult patients who will definitely get in your nerves.  In times like this, prosthetists need to control their anger and be the model of professionalism. 

* Dependable. A prosthetist should be someone whom the patients can rely on. For Cary Frounfelter it is important to be dependable and responsible in his job. There are obligations that should be fulfilled. 

* Integrity. Whatever profession a person take, being ethical and honest is a must. For healthcare professionals, they need to give honest opinions and finding regardless of how terrible the truth is. 

* Keen to Details. Being a prosthetist needs the characteristic of being keen to every detail. Any miscalculation can lead to harming the patients. In giving prosthetics, one should be careful about every detail and they need to be thorough when they are completing any task. If you do not have this, then this career is not for you.
  
* Tolerance with Stress. Criticism is part or every job. There would always be people who does not like your work. Cary Frounfelter know this that is why he tries his best to have an open mind. He accepts criticism wholeheartedly and then deal with them effectively and calmly. Despite situations where stress is too high, a good prosthetist should be able to keep calm all the time.     

* Cooperation. Giving prosthetics is done with a colleague most of the times. You should be pleasant with the other people in your job and should always display cooperative attitude and to be always good-natured. 

* Initiative. Any job pose challenges and responsibilities. For Cary Frounfelter, a prosthetist should be one who takes responsibility willingly and have the initiative to do so. 

* Persistence. If many challenges are there waiting for you in a job, it is imperative that you become persistent. In facing any obstacle, being persistent will help you to get through. 



Getting in career is not a joke. You need to really think it through and have the assurance that you are on the right track.    A career in the healthcare industry proves to be one of the most challenging careers there ever is. The jobs here are never to be taken lightly as people’s lives depended on it. Being a prosthetist is a crucial job. You need to be prepared for it just as how Cary Frounfelter had been.
